Oxfam TRAILWALKER Melbourne: call for volunteers
This year’s Oxfam TRAILWALKER Melbourne will be from 1-3 April 2011 and while registrations for the event are now fully booked up, organisers are looking for volunteers (they need about 1000 to staff for the event!). Volunteering is a great way for people to see what the event is all about, before deciding to do it next year. Each year Oxfam TRAILWALKER events in Melbourne and Sydney raise more than $6 million to support people living in poverty around the world. These events have been running in Australia since 1999 for Sydney and 2003 for Melbourne with more than 30,000 Australians taking part in this time.
In 2011, provided it still isn’t under water, it will be Brisbane’s turn to host this hugely popular walking event. The first ever Oxfam TRAILWALKER Brisbane will kick off in June 2011 in the Brisbane Forest Park. Those who have conquered the Melbourne or Sydney events should know that Oxfam TRAILWALKER Brisbane is expected to be the most challenging Trailwalker event in Australia. While the terrain itself will be quite forgiving (mostly fire trails) a majority of the trails are in remote bushland providing lots of great bush walking, flora and fauna and several ‘bush checkpoints’ along the way.
Team registrations will open in November. Subscribe to eNews by emailing trailwalkerbrisbane@oxfam.org.au
