Australian Himalayan Foundation Fundraiser

The Australian Himalayan Foundation is holding its annual Fundraiser on the 7 October, and this year the special guest speaker will be British mountaineering legend and author Chris Bonington, who will deliver the Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Address.

Bonington is renowned for his part in the 1975 first ascent of the South West face of Everest, which saw the first Britons summit, a trip which was later immortalised in his book, and later documentary, Everest the Hard Way. In 1985, at the age of 50, he achieved his own lifelong goal of summiting Mt Everest. He is the author of 15 best-selling books, and has been involved with many award-winning documentary films, while he is also renowned as a public speaker with many humorous and moving anecdotes and images from a lifetime exploring mountains, oceans and remote areas around the globe.

The Australian Himalayan Foundation Sydney Dinner will be held at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel Grand Ballroom on Friday, October 7, from 6.30pm. Tickets are available for $150 per person, or Premium tables of ten, hosted by eminent adventurers and including exclusive, pre-dinner drinks with Sir Chris Bonington, cost $3500. Proceeds go to the Australian Himalayan Foundation’s charitable projects in Nepal, India and Bhutan.
The Australian Himalayan Foundation is dedicated to helping the people of the Himalaya, one of the world’s poorest regions, through a set of practical education, health and environment projects. Its Teacher Training and Quality Education program is helping more than 50 000 students gain a decent education in the poorest region of Nepal.
